This rare material comes from Araçuaí in Minas Gerais, Brazil.  It cuts much like feldspar or quartz and is a must for every collector.  For more information about cutting petalite and its properties, check out our petalite info page.  May contain a few small typical cleavages that will cut out in the faceting process.  Otherwise, these stones are flawless.

Top color! This material may have some color zoning, but the color will mix well in a cut stone. Sapphire grows in thin crystals, so best yield is obtained with shallow pavilion and crown angles. The price categories reflect quality of yield, not of the material. The $17.50/carat material will yield best if cut into two stones, but will also cut one fine gem
